Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has detailed how he sustained third-degree burns from an electric gadget that he was using to warm his body.
The MP has been receiving treatment at the Karen Hospital for around two weeks narrated that due to his legs getting numb, a friend advised him to use the electric gadget to warm his feet.
Speaking to Citizen TV, the vocal Tanga Tanga lawmaker said on the fateful day of the accident, his feet literally exploded and after the hospital, he was informed that he had sustained third-degree burns.

Kuria said he has so far undergone three surgeries from the device that cost him KSh 250,000 to acquire.
“I was travelling and getting numb and tired and so this guy managed to convince him to which I thought was authorised and it was meant to do some blow burning of my feet.
My feet exploded and when I came here the following day, they said I had third-degree burns,” he said.

Not approved for use
To his dismay, Kuria has come to learn that the electric gadget is not fully approved for use by the government further calling for a crackdown on such devices as they are hazardous for use by the public.
“It was meant to be a solution but it has made me go through three surgeries and many people are using this kind of thing but I urge Kenyans that using this kind of products outside the regulatory framework is extremely dangerous,” he said.

He said some people are making a fortune by selling such unauthorised products adding that he was planning to buy his mother such a gadget.
“I had said it works, I would one for my mother but it is nothing but a death weapon,” he said.
