EXCLUSIVE: On the heels of her breakout debut feature How to Have Sex, a coming-of-age drama that won the Un Certain Regard prize in its 2023 premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, Molly Manning Walker has inked a deal to direct the film Not Another F**king Wedding for A24 and Plan B.
No word yet as to the logline or genre of the feature. Marie-Elena Dyche will produce alongside A24 and Plan B.
Sources said Plan B joined the project in early development. It reunites Manning Walker with A24 after Major Players, a women’s soccer series which she directed, executive produced and wrote for the studio and Channel 4. Plan B returns to work alongside A24 following projects like Moonlight and Minari, with the likes of India Donaldson’s The Chaperones and Edward Berger’s The Riders — starring Plan B principal Brad Pitt — upcoming.
Manning Walker is a British filmmaker who first rose to prominence as a cinematographer before her directing breakout. Her film How to Have Sex chronicles a post-exam girls’ trip to the Greek island of Crete, where three British teens set out to lose their virginity amid nonstop partying. But when an unspoken line is crossed, one of the girls is left to navigate the fallout of peer pressure and a sexual encounter she didn’t fully choose. Mubi released the film in the U.S. in February 2024.
Manning Walker is repped by Independent Talent Group.
