EXCLUSIVE: Shadowbox Studios has hired Mike Mosallam as its Chief Operating Officer.
Shadowbox is the owner of the Shinfield Studios facility in the UK and Shadowbox Atlanta. Mosallam becomes its inaugural COO. He has formed a new executive leadership team to oversee Shadowbox’s current and upcoming sites as well as international expansion and its suite of production services.
Mosallam has a wealth of studios experience. He recently led the Studio Strategy and Operations division of Apple TV+, helping it grow its studio footprint. Prior to Apple, he oversaw implementation of the global studio real estate strategy at Netflix.
The new executive leadership team put together by Mosallam includes VP of Global Sales Jennifer Roe Emery, VP of Studio Strategy Thomas Laub, VP of Global Operations Dean Horne, Director of UK and Europe Sales Beth Gallagher, Director of North American Sales Rebecca Riemersma and Director of Atlanta Sales Jerimiah Cullen.
The final phase of Shinfield opened in 2024. Situated in Berkshire in the south of England, it has 18 sound stages. Projects filmed there include Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, The Acolyte, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story and The Magic Faraway Tree.
Jumanji: The Next Level, Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, and Jungle Cruise are among the films that have lensed at Shadowbox Studios Atlanta.
Shadowbox is also building a studio facility in Queensland, Australia, which is slated to have ten soundstages, a backlot, and training facilities.
The company is ramping up the support services it offers for production. These range from volume planning for production companies to full-service studio management. It already has a development program to expand crew bases in emerging markets through its Backlot Academy.
