Men Showed Out In Style

The sports calendar may have quieted with the close of football season, but the style circuit certainly didn’t. In fact, if anything, the fashion spotlight only intensified. Last week, men reminded us that red carpets, award stages, and fashion week front rows offer just as much opportunity for standout style as any arena tunnel walk. From movie premieres and street presentations to major award ceremonies and even a chic escape to the Swiss Alps, invitations kept rolling in. And our stars responded accordingly, delivering looks that were intentional, elevated, and distinctly personal.

What stood out most, however, was the balance. A clear throughline emerged: elevated tailoring infused with personality; structured silhouettes softened by unexpected textures; heritage staples styled with contemporary ease; and monochrome moments that stayed both commanding and effortless. From Los Angeles to New York and every city in between, Black men embraced clothing that reflected their evolving style narratives.

The Looks

At the Crime 101 premiere, Corey Hawkins delivered one of the week’s most impressive fashion moments in a sharply tailored DZOJCHEN ensemble. The black suit featured strong shoulders and fluid, elongated lines, creating a statuesque silhouette we couldn’t ignore. Rather than opting for a traditional shirt, Hawkins layered the tailoring over a sheer high-neck top, a subtle but impactful choice that introduced texture. Sleek Doucal’s shoes grounded the look with understated polish, while David Yurman jewelry added restrained metallic accents that elevated rather than distracted. L’Écurie Paris glasses completed the ensemble, lending intellectual cool and framing the aesthetic with intention.

Meanwhile, at the African-American Film Critics Association Awards in Los Angeles, Melvin Gregg leaned into the strength of monochrome dressing. Wearing Lardini, he embraced a warm camel palette that felt luxurious without shouting for attention. The look centered on a buttoned shirt-jacket paired with matching tailored trousers, striking an elegant balance between relaxed structure and red-carpet formality. A crisp white shirt and slim black tie introduced a sharp contrast, reinforcing classic menswear codes while maintaining contemporary relevance. Polished black shoes anchored the softer tones, adding a final layer of timeless sophistication. Indeed, Gregg’s ensemble was a study in restraint, a reminder that cohesive color stories and thoughtful tailoring can deliver maximum impact without excess.

At the Coach Fall/Winter 2026 show, Caleb McLaughlin offered a different, yet equally compelling, interpretation of modern menswear, one rooted in downtown cool and heritage Americana. His oversized black leather jacket, complete with bold pockets and gleaming hardware, served as the statement anchor. Beneath it, a crisp striped button-down introduced dimension, with the shirttail intentionally peeking through to soften the silhouette. Loose, light-wash jeans injected ease, creating deliberate contrast against the jacket’s sharper lines. Black sneakers kept the look grounded and practical, while a structured Coach carryall, finished with signature detailing and playful tags, tied everything together. Ultimately, McLaughlin’s outfit encapsulated the week’s broader narrative: tradition reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, worn with authenticity and effortless confidence.
