Marin Catholic tennis edges Tam in rematch

Marin Catholic’s top doubles team of Carly Knopf and Olivia Olson held off the Hawks’ Samantha Nichols and Juliette Lunder, 6-2, 3-6, 10-7, for the decisive win as the Wildcats defeated Tam 4-3 on Tuesday.

Marin Catholic swept the doubles competition and picked up a singles win. Tam’s Gabriella Plonowski won comfortably at No. 1 singles.

Tam pulled out the Nos. 2 and 3 singles matches in super-tiebreakers with Larkin Petersen edging Elise Hohenrieder and Annabelle Halloran outlasting Kate Block.

  • Ana Fatjo, Hailey Hagan and Siena Michelson won at Nos. 2-4 singles, respectively, to lead Archie Williams to a 6-1 win against Terra Linda on Tuesday. TL’s No. 1 singles player, En-Ya Zhang, picked up the win and and stays unbeaten in league this season heading into a potential showdown with Branson’s undefeated No. 1, Anna Lardner, on Thursday.

Girls volleyball

Brooke Leslie had nine kills and eight digs to lead Redwood to a 25-22, 25-22, 25-15 win against Archie Williams on Wednesday.

Emma McDermott added eight kills, two blocks and two aces for the Giants (21-4, 6-1 MCAL). Katelyn McKnew had four kills and five blocks and Sophia Shaw had 16 digs.

The victory gave Redwood the inside track for the No. 2 seed in next week’s MCAL playoffs.

  • Emily Greene had seven kills to lead Marin Catholic to a 25-8, 25-8, 25-11 win against Novato on Wednesday. Brooke Brilliant had six kills on nine swings for MC and Grace Hodges added five kills on nine swings.
  • Branson swept past San Marin in three sets on Wednesday. No further info was available.
  • Grace Badlam had 15 kills to help keep Marin Academy unbeaten in league following a 25-4, 25-7, 25-19 win against Lick-Wilmerding on Tuesday. Julia Shipper had four kills and four blocks for MA while Amanda Johnson had 18 digs and four aces.

Field hockey

Redwood got a pair of goals from Maia Lewis in a 9-0 victory against Berkeley on Wednesday. Seven other Giants — Samantha Haan, Gabby Levin, Eleanor Titcombe, Eliza Byck, Haley Rothbart, Chandi Sexton and Justine Finch — also scored for Redwood. The Giants

Novato defeated Marin Catholic 16-7 on Tuesday night. No further details were available.
