A man was killed and a female and a baby were rushed to the hospital following a violent one-vehicle crash on Erie’s east side on Monday morning.
The crash happened shortly after 10 a.m. Monday in the 1500 block of East 10th Street.
Authorities on the scene said a sport-utility vehicle was traveling west on East 10th Street when it drove off the south side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a utility pole, shearing it off, and crashed into a fence at the Saia LTL Freight property at 1523 E. 10th St., before coming to rest on its roof.

The 31-year-old man, who lives in Erie but whose name was not available, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:34 a.m. Monday, Erie County Deputy Coroner John Maloney said. The male was a passenger in the SUV, according to Erie police.
The female driver and the baby were both taken to the hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
Erie police officers and Erie firefighters were at the scene, along with Erie police accident investigators. A portion of East 10th Street near the accident site was closed to traffic while emergency crews were at the scene.
