Lifeline children get peek into the world of fashion

Earlier this month, a group of Chai Lifeline girls who have been affected by pediatric illness visited the Manhattan showroom of luxury fashion brand Teri Jon by Rickie Freeman. The program was coordinated and led by Leora Mishan, Teri Jon’s creative director, who spoke about the process of fashion design and the power of taking ideas and insight from all around. Then, after a snack, the group had lunch at Chai Lifeline’s New York office.

“We wanted to give the girls an overview of the design process, from inspiration to production,” Ms. Mishan said. “More importantly, we wanted to share Rickie Freeman’s story with them; show them that through strength and conviction they can be empowered to achieve anything they want.”

“It was really cool to see different types of dresses and how they were made,” Michelle, a Chai Lifeline participant from Manalapan, said. “It was also great to just connect with new people and learn new things.”
