King & Spalding has hired two London finance partners from Paul Hastings

Two Paul Hastings London partners have quit to join King & Spalding, in the latest movement in the local legal sector.

King & Spalding has hired finance partner duo Richard Kitchen and Amin Doulai, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Kitchen, who was a partner in the firm’s corporate team, had been at the firm just shy of seven years. Prior to that, he was an associate at Latham & Watkins and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer according to his Linkedin profile. His practice focuses include general banking, alternative credit and international acquisition  and has significant experience advising private equity sponsors and corporate borrowers. Doulai had been with Paul Hastings for over four years, and before joining the firm had practiced with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom for five years, according to his Linkedin profile.

He specialises in leveraged and corporate acquisition finance transactions, general corporate financings and distressed financings and restructurings.

A spokesperson from Paul Hastings said:  “We wish them well.”

The pair’s exit come just several weeks after the hire of a major finance team from Latham & Watkins.

The four-strong senior team, led by the firm’s global co-chair of banking, left for U.S.-headquartered rival Paul Hastings in London at the start of July.

Firm leader Frank Lopez said that the group “brings key lending relationships with virtually every major investment bank and private credit institution.”
