Kendall County Coroner Jacquie Purcell Not Consulted on Budget Cuts by Finance Chairman Matt Kellogg | News

Kendall County Board Finance Committee Chairman Matt Kellogg wants to cut the $12,000 from the budget request of Coroner Jacquie Purcell.

County board members went over a page of budget changes at Wednesday’s Committee of the Whole meeting.

The county budget must be passed by November 30.

Purcell wanted more money for on-call employees and coroner training.  Board member Amy Cesich questioned Finance Committee Chair Kellogg about the coroner cuts.

Purcell said following Wednesday’s meeting that she had never discussed the cuts from her requests with Kellogg.

During the meeting, Purcell told board members that she needs the increase for on-call coroners because the call level has gone up.

Board member Cesish then quizzed Kellogg on whether he had spoken to State’s Attorney Eric Weis about cuts to Weis’s office.  Kellogg said he had, which prompted this response from Cesich about Kellogg not talking to Coroner Purcell.

.There have been two recent teenage suicides in Kendall County, and Cesich said that cutting the coroner’s budget now is not a good idea.
