Keira Knightley‘s teeth are strong enough for “life after love.”
The Pride & Prejudice star delighted Cher with an impromptu cover of the singer’s classic “Believe” — which she performed by flicking her teeth with her fingernails! — in the latest episode of The Graham Norton Show.
Cher was seemingly stunned by Knightley’s special talent. “She’s hitting the notes!” she exclaimed. “You hit the notes! How do you know what you’re—”
“I don’t know, I don’t know,” Knightley responded, explaining that she picked up the unusual skill early on. “I learned to do it as a kid. There was a kid at school who was cool, and he could do it, so we all did it.”
Norton remarked that her playing doesn’t have much day-to-day utility. “It’s really clever… but so pointless,” he said.
The actress agreed: “I can only use it here,” she said, gesturing to the studio stage.
Knightley showed off her toothy tune-making on the talk show in 2018. “I can play anything you want,” she said before tapping the melody of “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head.” She’s played that song on talk shows a number of times, including during her first appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2006.
Knightley later performed the Beatles’ “Yesterday” during a pandemic-era livestreamed fundraiser in 2020.
The actress will next appear in the Netflix thriller series Black Doves alongside Ben Whishaw. The show hits the streaming service on Dec. 6.
