Did you know? It wasn’t until the 1933-34 season that the Williamsport Bowling Association (WBA) was founded, and sanctioned by the ABC (American Bowling Congress), the governing body for bowling across the nation, which guarantees that everyone is playing by the same rules and that all equipment falls within those rules, enabling bowlers to receive certified recognition for honor scores. The Williamsport Women’s Bowling Association (WWBA) was founded in 1941 under the aspics of the WIBC (the Women’s International Bowling Congress ) which was founded in 1916. While the ABC was predominantly for male bowlers, the WIBC was restricted to women bowlers only. As bowling expanded outside of the Williamsport city limits, the WBA changed its name to the Lycoming County Bowling Association, while the WWBA changed its name to the Williamsport Area Women’s Bowling Association (WAWBA). In 2018 these two local associations, along with the local Youth Association merged into one local association, as mandated by the USBC (United States Bowling Congress) which was founded in 2005 when the ABC merged with the WIBC. This new local merged association is named the Lycoming County USBC Association.

Hope to see you on the lanes.
