VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton Athletic Department has announced that Kara Gorgos has been named the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Performance. An Assistant Athletic Trainer at Binghamton since 2016, she will oversee the athletic department’s Sports Medicine and Sports Performance units.

The Binghamton Sports Medicine and Performance staff is very dedicated to promoting health and wellness of the student-athletes. Gorgos arrived at Binghamton in August 2016 and has worked primarily with the women’s soccer and lacrosse programs since then. She has also supervised the Sports Medicine Internship Program with 15 students each semester and has overseen the intern athletic trainers for the track and cross country programs. In addition, Gorgos has authored and edited various departmental policies and procedures, including the disordered eating policy, extreme weather policies, Emergency Action Plans and numerous COVID-19 measures.
Prior to her coming to Binghamton, Gorgos was the Head Athletic Trainer at Union-Endicott High School during the 2015-16 academic year. In that role, she provided injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation for 35 athletic teams.
Gorgos has worked in the athletic training field for 11 years. She was the Graduate Assistant at Old Dominion from 2011-13, where she worked primarily with the baseball and women’s soccer programs. From there, Gorgos was an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Buffalo from 2013-15, where she worked with the volleyball and softball programs.
A 2011 graduate of Mercyhurst College, Gorgos graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Athletic Training. At Old Dominion, she earned her Master’s of Science and Education in 2013 with a concentration in Athletic Training.
