Joy Reid Admits She ‘Got Into Harvard Only Because Of Affirmative Action’

The MSNBC host Joy Reid has completely humiliated herself by admitting that she “got into Harvard only because of affirmative action.”

The New York Post reported that Reid made this embarrassing admission on live television as she responded to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that affirmative action being used in college admissions at schools like Harvard violated the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause.

This didn’t sit well with Reid, who responded in a way that has since blown up in her face.

“I got into Harvard only because of affirmative action,” Reid said. “I went to a school no one had ever heard of in Denver, Colorado, in a small suburb. I didn’t go to Exeter or Andover. I didn’t have college test prep. I just happened to be really nerdy and smart and have really good grades and good SAT scores.”

“But someone came to Denver to look for me,” she continued. “A Harvard recruiter flew to Denver, and I met me up with her at the Village Inn Restaurant and did a pre-interview to pull me into Harvard. I was pulled in — affirmatively.”

Reid Whines About Harvard

Not stopping there, Reid went on to whine about how she was treated at Harvard as someone who was admitted thanks to affirmative action.

“I was in a big conference class where some white students stood up and said, ‘Those students, the black students, they’re only here because of affirmative action,’” she claimed. “It became a huge argument that we all ended up having.”

Reid Hit With Backlash

Unfortunately for Reid, social media users have had a field day with her affirmative action admission.

Supreme Court Ruling

This comes after the Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 vote that the affirmative action programs at Harvard and the University of North Carolina were unconstitutional. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in the majority opinion that affirmative action systems “lack sufficiently focused and measurable objectives warranting the use of race, unavoidably employ race in a negative manner, involve racial stereotyping, and lack meaningful endpoints.”

“Those admissions programs cannot be reconciled with the guarantees of the Equal Protection Clause,” he continued, according to NBC News.

The presidential campaign Donald Trump celebrated the ruling by pointing out that three of the judges who sided with the majority were appointed by the former president.

“President Donald Trump made today’s historic decision to end the racist college admissions process possible because he delivered on his promise to appoint constitutionalist justices,” the campaign said. “America is a better nation as a result of the historic rulings led by Donald Trump’s three Supreme Court nominees.”

“This is a great day for America,” Trump later added, according to Forbes. “We’re going back to all merit-based—and that’s the way it should be!”

The fact that someone like Reid got into Harvard because of affirmative action only goes to show just how unjust this college admissions system has always been. We applaud the Supreme Court for finally striking down affirmative action once and for all!
