Jordan & Hess Company to host fashion and floral show on the square | Journal-news

MARTINSBURG – This weekend there will be a fashion show like no other on the square in downtown Martinsburg at 202 S. Queen St.—one that includes clothing, accessories and floral arrangements.

The event will take place on the front lawn of the new Jordan & Hess location at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Serving as the director for the fashion show, which is presented by Flowers Unlimited at Jordan & Hess Company, Candy Reid said that it is exciting to bring something “new and chic” to Martinsburg. The proceeds from the show will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of the Eastern Panhandle and the Berkeley County Humane Society.

“For the models, we wanted people in the audience to say, ‘Oh, I could see myself wearing that,'” Reid said. “We wanted to show women with whom everyone could relate.”

There will be male models and some children also included in the show.

“Our models come from diverse backgrounds and are at different points in their lives. They all have something special that goes beyond just being pretty,” she said. “I truly believe that when you feel good about yourself, you have on the right outfit, you radiate on the outside. We have selected women who are confident and relatable, and it shows in the way they present themselves.”

According to Reid, the show is not just a boutique showcase, but it is also floral arrangements and some of the things for sale in the store.

“It is truly a team effort,” she said. “I am loving this opportunity to go back and do this kind of work again.”

Store owner Anthony Hess said that he had been thinking about doing this for about six years and that the move from the previous location has helped to provide the space to finally make the dream a reality.

Reid and Hess were talking after the Jordan & Hess Company Christmas event on the square to celebrate the new location. Reid said, “You know what you need to do?” and before she could finish her sentence, Hess said, “Do you want to do a flower and a fashion show?”

“Honestly, the words came out of our mouths and our brains, but he has been thinking about this a long time,” Reid said.

Dana’s Tuxedo and Grace Riane Bridals will also be showcasing wedding gowns and tuxedos from the stores on the models.

Jordan & Hess Company will be open before and after the show.

“There will be a lot of cool florals throughout the store and in the show,” Hess added. “We also plan on having the windows have the kind of character that Christmas does, but not animation—something totally floral.”

Reid said there would be food trucks on the street and that anyone can come and watch the show; seating is for ticketed guests, but the public is invited to view from the around the square.
