During the Tuesday, Nov. 26 episode of season 15, Lyons, 56, and Lichy, 37, spoke openly about getting abortions in early adulthood.
Towards the start of the episode, Lichy explained to the former J.Crew executive that she revealed in a conversation with Glamour how she opened up about getting an abortion when she moved into college. The real estate agent said it was the “toughest decision” to make.
As the episode continued, Lyons revealed that she also got an abortion. She explained that she was 21 years old. At the time, she had just moved to NYC to start her career in fashion and had “no money.”
“It’s a really hard thing to go through,” Lyons stated. The fashion executive shares her 17-year-old son, Beckett, with ex-husband Vincent Mazeau.
As the episode continued, Lichy recounted her experience to Glamour, saying she “felt ashamed because [she] felt like it was [her] fault.”
Lichy shares sons Levi, 9, Elijah, 4, and daughter Layla, 7, with husband Abe. They announced in early November that they expecting their fourth child.
Zarin’s revelation followed the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in June 2022. “I’m horrified about what happened this week with Roe v. Wade. I myself had an abortion when I was in my late teens,” Zarin, now 60, said. “It was my choice and I don’t know how my life would have been different today,” said Zarin.
Zarin appeared in the WWHL beside Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Brandi Glanville, who also revealed she had an abortion when she was a teenager, telling Zarin and Cohen that she was 17 years old at the time.
Glanville elaborated further on her story on X (formerly known as Twitter): “I don’t have any shame about my abortion & thank God I had a choice. I was 17 a senior in high school I was in an emotionally abusive relationship and I was on birth control pills and I still became pregnant. I had a choice & I was still a child myself.”
The Real Housewives of New York City airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
