James Hinchcliffe joins NBC Sports as IndyCar analyst

James Hinchcliffe’s absence from the IndyCar world barely lasted 48 hours. 

On Tuesday, the Canadian driver, one of the most beloved personalities of the sport, announced via social media he was stepping away from full-time racing ahead of the 2022 season, with news to come about his future. 

Two days later, the next phase of Hinchcliffe’s career was revealed. On Thursday, NBC Sports announced the 35-year-old will join its broadcast team as a full-time analyst for the NTT IndyCar Series and select IMSA WeatherTech Championship Series events.

Hinchcliffe, who’s personality made him a fan favorite during his 10-year stint in IndyCar racing, will join play-by-play voice Leigh Diffey and fellow analyst Townsend Bell as NBC’s lead IndyCar booth for the 2022 season. He replaces Paul Tracy.
