After Jack Innanen campaigned for a role on Season 2 of The Heated Rivalry, he was reportedly benched from the homoerotic hockey drama.
The Canadian actor responded to reports that he was offered a starring role in the Jacob Tierney-created Crave/HBO Max series but had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts, noting he can’t say which character he almost played.
“I think it’s such an incredible show,” Innanen told CBS Mornings. “And it didn’t work out, but I love Jacob, I love everyone involved. And I’m just excited to see what they do for the second season.”
Following his fan-powered social media campaign to play The Long Game character Wyatt Hayes or Role Model‘s Troy Barrett in the sophomore season of Tierney’s steamy series adaptation of Rachel Reid’s Game Changers books, Innanen revealed he was in talks.
“I’ve had some conversations. We’ve chatted,” he told Entertainment Tonight, explaining that he’s “perfect for the show because I am down for anything—and I played hockey!”
Innanen is currently reprising his role as Paul Baker in Season 2 of the FX comedy Adults, which begins with the standalone prequel episode ‘Marathon Day’ about his character’s origin story, available to stream July 31 at 1pm ET/10am PT on FXX and Hulu, before the show’s official return on Aug. 27.
