Inside Jennifer Lopez’s Intimate Birthday Lunch in Hamptons Without Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez gathered family and friends for an early birthday lunch in the Hamptons.

The Atlas actress, who turns 55 on July 24, was joined by her 16-year-old son Max, plus her sister Lynda, manager Benny Medina and more at the Italian restaurant Arthur & Sons in Bridgehampton, New York, on Sunday, July 21.

Chef Joe Isidori, owner of Arthur & Sons, tells PEOPLE the “special menu” included fried calamari, Caesar salad, Arthur & Sons spaghetti marinara and the chicken parm. “She also loves the housemade Limoncello cheesecake and takes some home every time she comes in,” says Isidori.

The celebration, held at the restaurant’s Amalfi terrace, featured a “very intimate crowd, who shared many heartfelt stories,” he adds. “They had an amazing time.”

“Having the kind words and support of Jennifer has been an amazing experience. She has been very gracious, lovely and supportive about our restaurant, especially the food,” adds Michelin-star chef Isidori.

“At the table, she and her guests said, ‘This food is banging!’ and Jennifer responded ‘Right? I know!’ Our team sang her a chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’ It was really fun.”

A source tells PEOPLE that Lopez “had a great weekend with family and friends,” adding, “She was in a happy mood.”

A day prior, Lopez threw a Bridgerton-themed birthday party in the Hamptons. Guests were photographed in Regency-era attire, including Lopez’s mom Guadalupe Rodríguez, as they arrived for the festivities.

Lopez, earlier in the day before the party, posted selfies on Instagram and wrote, “Today is gonna be a great day. Happy Saturday everybody.”

Multiple sources told PEOPLE that Lopez’s husband Ben Affleck was not in attendance for her birthday bash. The pair have been on separate coasts as Lopez has spent time in the Hamptons while Affleck, 51, stayed in Los Angeles.

The couple, whose two-year wedding anniversary was last week, have been living separately in recent months.

They weren’t together on Mother’s Day in May, but Lopez shared a short Instagram tribute to Affleck on Father’s Day the following month. Neither Affleck nor Lopez have publicly commented about any issues in their romance.

Affleck’s 18-year-old daughter Violet visited Lopez in New York, as they were spotted shopping together and on bike rides with friends. Affleck also shares Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, while Lopez shares her twins with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

Lopez canceled her This Is Me… Live summer tour in late May. Live Nation said Lopez was “taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends.”

She added in a message at the time, “I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary.”
