Influencer Carly Weinstein opened up about using a GLP-1 to lose weight after being a “body positive influencer.”
“If you told me five months ago I’d be talking about this, I would tell you, ‘You’re crazy,’” she started off in a Tuesday, April 28, TikTok video. “I was so embarrassed and ashamed that I felt like I needed the help of a GLP-1 to deal with my weight gain.”
Weinstein went on to say that she has “struggled” with “disordered eating” her entire life and was placed on a stimulant medication in college to help. When she got off the medication, Weinstein said she “experienced a lot of weight gain,” and a “loss of control around food.”
The New York City-based influencer shared that she started looking into weight-loss pills after the “internet” influenced her.
“Because I was not obese and because I didn’t have a chronic condition, I went on a compounded GLP-1,” she said, noting that the drug is not regulated by the FDA. “I was willing to take the risk because of how unhappy I was.”
Weinstein shared that she was on the medication for two or three months, where she experienced weight loss and more “side effects that didn’t make [her] feel like [herself] or happy.”
She added, “I was the first one, a year ago, to judge. Maybe I was jealous.”
“I feel really sad for my old self that I was so ashamed to talk about this,” she continued. “I really felt not good enough and if I admitted that I needed help outside of myself, then I was admitting failure or defeat.”

Weinstein’s followers supported her in the comments section of her video. “You should never be ashamed, it takes courage to be honest about your life,” one wrote. A second commented, “❤️your honesty helps us all!!!! You’re beautiful xo.” A third follower commented, “Truly love the vulnerability and truth in this content.”
Weinstein isn’t the first to open up about using weight loss medication. Brooks Nader has been candid about her GLP-1 usage through the years.
In December 2024, she exclusively told Us Weekly that she experimented with Ozempic before competing on season 33 of Dancing With the Stars in 2024.
“I took, like, a little bit when it first came out, and everyone was doing it,” she said. “It made me really nauseous. I liked it — I am not going to lie — and when I went on Dancing With the Stars, I could not do both.”
“It was one or the other, and I picked dancing. I put the shot away,” Nader, 29, said. Her Hulu series with her sisters, Love Thy Nader, also shows her GLP-1 journey, which led to a family intervention after others were concerned for her well-being.
