The sporting event of the summer is set to begin this Friday, June 26, with a dazzling opening ceremony that will see at least 10,500 athletes floating down the city’s Seine river as part of the game’s colorful celebration. The competitors will all convene at the Trocadero, the promenade next to the Eiffel Tower, where traditional events like the lighting of the Olympic torch will be witnessed by spectators around the globe.

Here’s how to watch the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony live on television and streaming services.

When does the opening ceremony start?

Coverage of the three-hour-long ceremony begins on NBC/Peacock starting at 12 p.m. ET, with the actual ceremonial procession starting at 1:30 p.m. ET. An encore presentation of the event will also be aired at 7:30 p.m. on NBC that evening.

How can I watch the opening ceremony on TV?

All Olympic events — including the opening ceremony — will air live on NBC.

How about on streaming services?

The opening ceremony can also be streamed on NBC’s streaming service, Peacock. Viewers can also tune into the opening ceremony livestream on NBCOlympics.com, NBC.com, the NBC app, or the NBC Olympics app after authenticating their cable subscription.

Who is hosting the opening ceremony?

Mike Tirico, Kelly Clarkson, and Peyton Manning are hosting the opening ceremony. They will be joined throughout the festivities by NBC Sports’ Maria Taylor, who is accompanying Team USA on their boat, as well as Today hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, who will be reporting from a bridge along the Seine.

Who will be performing at the event?

The Olympics has remained tight-lipped about which artists will be performing during the opening ceremony, but Celine Dion and Lady Gaga are both reportedly in town. The entire event is being overseen by the games’ artistic director Thomas Jolly, a French theater director and actor best known for his productions of Shakespeare’s Henry VI and Richard III and the Starmania revival.

Are any celebrities taking part in the ceremony?

Yes! Snoop Dogg, who joins NBC as a special correspondent for this year’s games, and Salma Hayek are two of the celebrities who will carry the Olympic torch to Paris this year. Jimmy Fallon will also join Tirico in hosting the Olympics closing ceremony in September, too.

Hart to Heart host Kevin Hart and Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson will also team up for an Olympics highlights show that will air two to three times a week throughout the entire games beginning on the night of the opening ceremony.
