Here’s what to wear on christmas day according to the GQ fashion team

Christmas will be a small affair this year so I plan on bringing a little drama to proceedings with a somewhat ludicrous statement knit. My weapon of choice is this teal button-up beauty from Bottega Veneta. Like wearing a vast swathe of extra-soft seafoam, I’ll team it with my new pair of wintry Issey Miyake Homme Plissé tweed trousers and a Santa hat, should I feel so inclined.

In Italy there is a saying: ‘Christmas with your family, New Year with anyone you choose’ – Natale con i tuoi, Capodanno con chi vuoi. This Christmas – as with nearly every festive period past – will be spent with my mother. Wherever I am in the world, I ensure that I arrive on the 24th, in order that I can fulfil my duties as her personal chef on the 25th. I have, over the last few years, been promoted from sous, so the items I know I’ll be wearing or have with me this Christmas are my trusty apron and kitchen knife. Be it goose, duck, venison or a good fish, I will need to keep the cashmere covered as I get busy with the blade. I tend to always travel with a good kitchen blade if I’m staying anywhere for a few days. Whatever is going on out there in the world – and there is so very much going on – I will always ensure that my apron and blade are ready on the 24th.
