GALESBURG VOLLEYBALL
Streaks fall to Maple Leafs
GALESBURG — The Galesburg High School volleyball team was swept by Geneseo 25-17, 25-19 Tuesday night in Western Big 6 play.
Abby Endthoff and Abby Lingafelter had five kills and a block each for the Silver Streaks (7-12, 2-8). Kadynce Lydic had three digs. Grace Nelson dished out five assists and had an ace. Lingafelter also had an ace for Galesburg.
The Streaks’ sophomores fell to the Maple Leafs 25-19, 25-16, and Galesburg freshmen also fell in straight sets 25-16, 25-10.

Chargers sweep Illinois Valley
GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team served a season-high 16 aces in earning an Arrowhead Conference sweep of Illinois Valley 25-3, 25-20, 25-10 on Tuesday night at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.
The Chargers (13-9 overall, 3-1 Arrowhead) got five aces each from freshmen Lauren Erke and Jasmin McDaniel as they surpassed their previous season-best of 13 aces, set Sept. 18 against Oakton. The pair also led Sandburg in digs, with Erke picking up 11 and McDaniel 10.
Sandburg dominated the first set against the Eagles (2-12, 0-4), scoring the match’s first 15 points on Erke’s serve, including four aces. The Chargers closed the set with a 7-0 run on McDaniel’s serve, including aces on the final two points. IVCC trailed 21-20 in the second before Sandburg finished the set off with a 4-0 run.
Jadyn Swan led Sandburg with seven kills. Setter Carmyn Baldwin had 16 assists for the Chargers.
MEN’S SOCCER
Camille tallies hat trick, No. 10 Chargers rout Daley
CHICAGO — Guylberson Camille had a hat trick and three assists to lead the 10th-ranked Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team in an 11-0 blowout at Richard J. Daley on Tuesday.
Camille scored the second of five first-half goals for the Chargers (8-1 overall, 5-1 Region IV), who were playing their first road match in a month, and he added two more tallies in the second half for his second hat trick of the season. Camille also scored three goals in Sandburg’s win Sept. 7 against Kishwaukee. Tuesday’s effort was his fourth multi-goal game this season.
Pedronel Herrera and Jean Forestal each added a pair of goals for Sandburg. Herrera also assisted on two goals, and Forestal added an assist.
Adithya Vinod got the Chargers on the board in the 10th minute as Sandburg scored five times in a 25-minute span against the Bulldogs (1-5, 1-5).
Other scorers for the Chargers were Neemias Moreira, Stenson Armand and Oliver Hawkins.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Knox beats Grinnell
GALESBURG — The Knox College women’s soccer team defeated Grinnell 2-0 in its Midwest Conference opener on Tuesday afternoon.
Knox saw some great chances early in the game, narrowly missing goals on a pair of shots on back-to-back corners. The Prairie Fire outshot the Pioneers 9-3 in the first half and Lydia Mitchell broke the tie just a few minutes before halftime on an assist from Aleene Ramirez.
Mitchell added to the lead just under five minutes into the second half when she scored on a breakaway for her seventh goal of the season.
The Fire dominated the second half with a 7-2 advantage over the Pioneers in shots. Overall, Knox managed nine shots on goal to just four from Grinnell.
JR. HIGH FOOTBALL
Streaks fall at Moline Wilson
MOLINE — The Galesburg seventh grade football team lost to Moline Wilson 34-14 on Tuesday.
Izeah Abdallah led the Streaks’ offense with 130 yards rushing, 50 receiving yards and a TD. Joel Pineda had 60 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Galesburg’s Maliek Sylia had four tackles while Charlie Hayden and Brayden Thomas had a pair of tackles apiece.
Titans stopped by Rockets
The Monmouth-Roseville Junior High football team was defeated by Rockridge 20-0 on Tuesday night.
The MRJH football team was defeated by Rockridge Tuesday night 20-0.
JR. HIGH GIRLS BASKETBALL
Sherrard beats Galesburg
The Galesburg eighth grade girls basketball team fell to Sherrard 35-22 on Tuesday.
Sophia Kisler had nine points, and Khloe May added seven for the Streaks.
