APPLETON NORTH 21, KIMBERLY 10
KIMBERLY – North got 91 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns from Cal Martine in its victory over the Papermakers at Papermaker Stadium.
North (10-2) advances to play Franklin (12-0) in a state semifinal next Friday at a site to be determined.

North’s win over Kimberly snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Papermakers, which also included a pair of playoff defeats.
“It means so much because the kids have really invested a ton and time to get to this point,” North coach Rob Salm said. “We went through the COVID thing and that was a tough year and a half, but these kids stuck together through that. The entire time we were lifting at 5:30 in the morning and so this didn’t just happen, they put the time in to it. When you put in the effort to make something happen and then you get the result like tonight, it just means so much more.”
North led 14-10 at the half and the Lightning defense came up big in the third quarter to stop a 16-play, 46-yard drive by Kimberly that stalled at the North 23.
The ensuing drive saw the Lightning fumble at the Kimberly 13, but the North defense forced a three-and-out and North’s next drive was capped with an 8-yard Martine touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
“Kimberly’s a great opponent,” Salm said. “ We knew this would be a challenge but the kids were up to it and played their best 48 minutes they played all season and able to get this thing done.”
Kimberly’s season finishes at 11-1.
“Appleton North is so talented and they make you have to capitalize on those opportunities and tonight we just weren’t able to,” Kimberly coach Steve Jones said. “I told the guys that they were loved unconditionally regardless of what the scoreboard says. They’re loved for who they are and not what they do and the toughest part is that we don’t get to be together anymore so losses sting, but the fact we just don’t get to be together anymore and this group never gets to be together again is the toughest thing.”

FRANKLIN – The Sabers were nearly flawless in the passing attack, with Myles Burkett completing 16-of-19 passes for 353 yards in the quarterfinal win over the Pirates.
Keaton Arendt of Franklin was particularly hard to defend, catching six passes for 164 yards.
Bay Port was led by Blake Buchinger, who rushed for 92 yards on 21 carries. Cole Bensen added 81 yards rushing on 15 carries.

PULASKI – A.J. Pepin ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns on 33 carries to lead the Orioles past the Red Raiders.
After Pulaski took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, Hartford scored five touchdowns from late in the first quarter to late in the third quarter, building a 35-7 lead.
Pulaski rallied to within seven points on an Aaron Maroszek touchdown with 1:22 left in the game, but Hartford was able to hang on for the win.
Maroszek finished with 115 yards rushing to lead Pulaski, which lost two fumbles and was penalized seven times for 70 yards.
Hartford was able to control the ball with a nearly 17-minute advantage in time of possession and a 183-118 advantage in rushing yards.

LUXEMBURG – The Bluejays, who were clinging to a 14-13 lead through three periods, put away the game with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns.
A.J. Korth, who finished with 239 yards rushing, threw 6 yards to Mason Tanner to put Menasha up 20-13 in the fourth quarter and then added a 12-yard run later in the period.
Davontre Smith added 120 yards rushing for Menasha, including a 57-yard run in the second quarter that put the Bluejays up 14-6.
Issac VandenBush led Luxemburg-Casco with 202 yards rushing on 21 carries.
Menasha finished with 365 total yards (359 rushing) while Luxemburg-Casco totaled 342 yards (268 rushing).

WISCONSIN DELLS – Carter Kriewaldt delivered 130 yards rushing and four touchdowns to lead the Irish past the Chiefs.
After a scoreless first quarter, Kriewaldt went to work, scoring on a 2-yard run in the second quarter, 2- and 1-yard runs in the third quarter and a 12-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Mitchell Kater scored Freedom’s final touchdown.
Matt Getgen rushed for 91 yards to lead Wisconsin Dells.

CAMPBELLSPORT – The Cardinals rallied from a 27-19 deficit after three quarters to defeat the Cougars in a matchup between Flyway Conference rivals.
Ty Hockers scored on a 2-yard run with Blake Schraufnagel adding the two-point conversion to tie the game with 10:46 remaining. Braedon Vollmer then scored the game-winning touchdown on a 5-yard run with 4:43 left.
Schraufnagel finished with 237 yards rushing on 23 carries for Mayville.
Joseph Gardner led Campbellsport with 217 yards rushing on 29 carries.

KENOSHA – After DeAndre Baptiste opened the game with an 88-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for the Lancers, it was all Ledgers.
St. Mary’s Springs was a force on the ground with Isaac Hyland and Levi Huempfner combining to run for 162 yards.
Kenosha St. Joseph could never get its offense untracked against the Ledgers defense, rushing for just 29 yards on 23 carries and passing for 33 yards.

Colby averaged more than 10 yards per carry, rushing 42 times for 423 yards.
Auburndale, meanwhile, could not move the ball on the ground, rushing 40 times for 37 yards. The Eagles did complete 10-of-17 passes for 149 yards.
