HOLLAND — One healthcare group is looking to make sports physicals easier this school year.
HealthBar, a Grand Rapids-based provider of healthcare services to businesses, schools and consumers, will offer drive-thru sports physicals at locations in Grand Rapids and Holland. The physicals will be performed by the business’ clinical team of nurses and nurse practitioners.
Sports physicals are required by the Michigan High School Athletic Association for all students who participate in sports. Services at HealthBar began Thursday, Aug. 5, and will continue throughout the month on the following dates:
- 12-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9
- 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, Aug. 18-20
- 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Aug. 21-22
- 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, Aug. 23-24
Holland’s drive-thru medical center is located at 12274 James St. in Holland Town Center. No appointment is necessary, and each examination is $40. Participants must bring a copy of the approved MHSAA Physical Examination Clearance Form.
Examinations are completed outdoors. Part of the physical is performed while the student remains in their vehicle, while the rest takes place in a large tent.
HealthBar is also available to deploy clinical teams to provide on-site physicals for schools.

HealthBar, launched just months before COVID-19 pandemic, now employs a network of more than 325 clinicians. The team includes a medical director, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and licensed practical nurses.
