Have a healthy shake!
What to eat, what to drink? A common question asked through out each day is,”What tastes great?”, “What’s healthy?”,”What’s easy to make?”. Here are a few ideas for non-alcoholic drinks.
Mixed drinks, mix it up. Mixing drinks can create great tasting beverages. Fruit juices combined with water are favorite liquid sips. Carbonated water or seltzers in the mix instead of plain water create a soda like beverage that’s healthier compared to soda. Regular soda contains high amounts of sugar. Diet sodas have much less sugar content, but some may not be as tasteful. Mixing variations of soda types can help cut down the calories. Try mixing a cola with it’s diet version. A 50/50 mix will cut the calories as the sugar content will be lessened in half and it will reduce the sweetness in the taste. The less regular soda in the mix, the less calories. Try watering down a soda with water or seltzer for taste and calorie shift. Iced teas and ades, such as lemon or orange, can also be in your different drink concoctions.
Drink blenders are a great way to make a healthy shake containing various fruits and vegetables. Other healthy additives also can be added in like chia, cinnamon and other flavorful spices. A blend of spinach, kale and/or other green leafy vegetables can be mixed with carrots, apples, bananas, strawberries and/or other berries. A great way to get vegetable and fruit servings as you get the daily recommended amount which is not always easy to achieve.
