Pune: The Chakan police on Tuesday booked a former technician of an e-commerce company for stealing three smartphones and a smartwatch, collectively worth Rs1.85 lakh, from customers’ parcels.
The theft came to light in April this year, when a customer from Kolhapur district received an empty box of a smartphone worth Rs74,000. “When company officials checked the CCTV footage in the store facility at Chakan, they noticed the technician removing something from one of the parcels,” sub-inspector Sangita Bhandarwad of the Chakan police said.
She added that when company officials questioned the technician, he admitted that he had stolen the four gadgets.
