Fox Sports presenter ‘overwhelmed’ by support

Morris had been stood down on Thursday while the network – which holds broadcasts rights for AFL, cricket and NRL matches – investigated what it termed an “inappropriate audio recording”.

Morris apologised for his behaviour on Friday afternoon.

“I would like to unconditionally apologise to everyone for my disgusting and disgraceful comments, which became public yesterday,” he said on Twitter.

“I am especially sorry to the person involved. No one should ever, in any place, or at any time, be spoken about in that way.”

On Friday, AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan condemned Morris’ comments, describing them as “clearly unacceptable”.

“I have just seen it in written form and clearly the comments from my reading of it are unacceptable, and clearly unacceptable, and Fox Sports have taken action,” McLachlan told 3AW on Friday.

“I don’t really want to comment more than that because I think it is still being reviewed.”

Morris was savaged by Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge during an AFL press conference after Wednesday’s season opener between the Bulldogs and Melbourne Demons.
