Insta360 is sending mixed signals with the Luna Pro. On one hand, it’s marketed to lifestyle vloggers who just want quick clips and auto-tracking. On the other, it packs built-in timecode—a broadcast-level feature meant for multi-camera production crews.
The announcement keeps doing that to you. 10-bit I-Log. ACES color pipelines, a phrase that belongs in a grading suite with the blinds down. Leica’s name on the lens too, because of course.
Two different cameras live inside one shell. My question, before anyone independent has torn into it, is which of the two Insta360 finished.

A Summicron lens over a 1-inch 8K sensor is the headline, and the badge will move units on its own. What interests me more is the Dual AI Chip arrangement behind it, a dedicated imaging processor working alongside a 4nm flagship chip. A lot of silicon for something you hold like a flashlight.
Vertical shooting got the attention it deserved. 4K30 vertical, oversampled from 6K, with the touchscreen rotating to switch orientation. Owners of the Ultra spent months grumbling about its 3K vertical ceiling, and Insta360 heard them.
Pulling the screen off the camera body solves the single biggest headache of solo filming. Instead of running back and forth to check if you’re in frame, you just hold the display in your palm while the tripod stays parked 10 feet away.
Four hours of battery, 47 GB onboard. Modest, and I prefer modest to the inflated kind.
The histogram problem
Pitching I-Log and ACES support without basic exposure tools like a histogram or zebras is a massive oversight. In daylight, you’re blind-guessing your exposure on a tiny screen. Ultra users are already pointing out other red flags too—overheating on long takes, slow photo saves, and a lower bitrate in log mode than in standard shooting, which defeats the point of shooting log.
