Finance commissioner Butch Eley named deputy to Gov. Bill Lee

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee has appointed the state’s finance commissioner as his new deputy, filling a role vacated last year.

Department of Finance and Administration Commissioner Butch Eley will continue continue serving in the department.

Eley replaces Lang Wiseman, former deputy and chief counsel who left for a private sector job in late 2021.

“For the past three years, Butch has played a pivotal role in our strong economic recovery and in maintaining Tennessee’s reputation for conservative fiscal management,” Lee said in a statement. “His extensive public and private sector experience will continue to add enormous value as we invest strategically in infrastructure, education and other priorities to serve Tennesseans and support our state’s growth.”
