Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter steps onto the catwalk

Ella Emhoff better werk! Vice President Kamala Harris’ 22-year-old stepdaughter hit the runway for Proenza Schouler’s show Wednesday.
Decked out in all black with her hair slicked back, Emhoff took New York Fashion Week by storm at the show, hosted at New York’s Little Island.
“Truly honored to work with such an amazing team again,” Emhoff captioned an Instagram photo of her walking the runway. “Congratulations @jackmccollough, @lazro, and the whole Proenza crew you all killed it again

This marks the second time Emhoff has walked in a NYFW show after making her runway debut earlier this year for Proenza Schouler in February.

After making waves there, she took things international with her Paris Fashion Week debut, walking the runway for Balenciaga. She sported a black suit with an oversized matching shawl, complete with pointed black boots, a sleek bun and glasses.

After turning heads with her fashion choice for her stepmother’s inauguration in January, Emhoff soon after signed with IMG Models. A month later she landed a magazine cover.
The newly-minted model was featured on the cover of the European fashion magazine Dust’s spring 2021 issue. The former art student and knitwear designer is donning one of her own designs, a pastel-colored knitted sweater with a teddy bear among other designs.
Emhoff is the daughter of Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, from a previous marriage to Kerstin Emhoff. Emhoff and her brother, Cole Emhoff, 26, are named after jazz legends Ella Fitzgerald and Cole Porter.

Breakout model Precious Lee opened and closed the show, showcasing Siriano’s commitment to size inclusivity. She first walked in a stunning yellow trouser suit with wide loose pants and an asymmetrical jacket, a matching crossover bralette underneath.
Siriano wanted to bring the glamour in today’s dark times, he told the Associated Press.
He harkened back some looks to old photographs of his paternal grandmother on vacation in Positano on Italy’s Amalfi Coast during the 1960s and ’70s.
Siriano put vintage sunglasses on some of his models.
Models strutted in bright yellows, sunset oranges and emerald green gowns and dresses with huge ruffles for sleeves and bulbous skirts.
There were looks in barely there black lace, tiny bra tops paired with trousers and full skirts, and body hugging slinky dresses with cutouts from neck to calf.
Others were adorned with rows of feathers.
“I love that. I miss that,” Siriano said of his touch of drama and old-world glam. “I think that’s what people miss about fashion, too. We have friends that are going to, like, a birthday party and they want a gown. It’s so interesting to see what we were missing.”
Several models donned avant-garde up-dos with brightly-colored ribbon weaved through.
His crowd pared down to 300 from his usual 800 guests due to the pandemic, Siriano’s show took place in the ornate Gotham Hall, beneath a stained glass skylight 70 feet up.
Siriano said he wanted this spring-summer collection to be “very strong and powerful,” but sexy, too.
