We’ve got our next Dragon Ball video game, and it’s a blast from the past: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3.
Previously known as “Project 1000,” the game’s full title was revealed on Sunday at a games showcase from the franchise. In the trailer below, we’re blasted into the future in the setting of West City. The city is populated by some notable familiar faces like Bulma and Piccolo, but we’re otherwise treated to glimpses of brand new characters, including the young Saiyan Brett. After spending some time with his friends, he’s dispatched to investigate an “incident” and transforms into a Great Saiyaman outfit.
From there, the animated cutscene, which looks similar to the current Dragon Ball shows, transitions to gameplay. Brett’s joined by the white-haired boy from the reveal trailer in January. Still no name or voice from him, but the two dash off to do some heroics. We get the title card, and then some first-person gameplay of a character seeing West City in all its futuristic splendor…only to have Bulma in a pod crash into their room.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is the first new entry in the sub-series since the second game in 2016. Developed by Dimps, these titles are more action-RPG focused than straight fighting, and puts players in control of custom-made protagonists in original stories set in the Dragon Ball universe. That continues here, as the game description says players join the Great Saiyan Squad with Brett and other characters “as events there begin to take shape.”
Look for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 to release in 2027 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
