Travel tests will end for fully vaccinated passengers, Boris Johnson confirmed as he said Britain was “moving through” the current wave of coronavirus.
The Prime Minister did not set a date for the changes, but ministers were expected to agree to scrap a range of measures at today’s meeting of the Covid-O committee.
These included tests for travellers arriving in the UK as well as children are set to be given access to digital Covid passes in time for the half-term holidays.
Speaking at a hospital in Buckinghamshire, Mr Johnson said: “We have, thanks to the tough decisions, the big calls that we made… the most open economy and society in Europe.
“And although we have to be cautious, we are now moving through the omicron wave, and you can see the figures are starting to get better.
“So what we’re doing on travel, to show that this country is open for business, open for travellers, you will see changes so that people arriving no longer have to take tests if they have been vaccinated, if they have been double vaccinated.”
