EAST LANSING, Mich. – As part of a year-long celebration of 50 years of Title IX, Michigan State athletics is sending 12 female staff members to the Women Leaders In College Sports national convention in Kansas City, Missouri, Oct. 9-11.
Women Leaders in College Sports is the premier leadership organization that develops, connects, and advances women working in college sports and beyond. Women Leaders takes a pro-active role in advancing women into positions of influence and powerfully shapes the landscape of women leaders.
MSU athletics is using the national conference as professional development opportunities. Attendees from across various units in the athletic department were chosen after submitting an application including a description of how attending the conference is expected to enhance their professional skillsets and empower professional growth. Following the conference, all attendees will participate in debriefing sessions in hopes of not only sharing what they learned with co-workers, but also identifying ways to continue investing and enhancing the culture of MSU athletics.
Staff members selected to attend include Julee Burgess – Associate AD/Director of Sport Administration, LaRhonda Burley – Senior Associate AD/Strategic Initiatives and Brand Innovation, Epiphany Clark – Associate AD/Chief of Staff, Julie Dombroski – Director of Women’s Basketball Operations & Technology, Hailey Gilbert – Professional Aide, Lianna Hadden – Assistant Director of Performance Nutrition, Lexi Harley – Executive Secretary, Jacquie Joseph – Assistant AD/Sport Administration, Cara Kaye – Creative Director/Men’s Basketball, Simone Proulx – Director of Football Administration, Hannon Roberts – Assistant Director/Student-Athlete Support Services, and Megan Vanderveen – Assistant AD/Human Resources.
In a similar professional development opportunity, several MSU athletic staff members will be presenting at the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) 2022 Women in Sports Leadership Conference, Oct. 9-10 in Lansing.
Presenters include Casey Akenberger – Associate Director, Olympic Sports/Athletic Performance, Dr. Ashley Baker – Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer, Brittney Kimball – Brand Ambassador/Volleyball, Sharonda McDonald-Kelley – Head Softball Coach, and Meredith Norris – Academic Coordinator/Student-Athlete Support Services.
