The N.C. Apple Festival was canceled last year because of the pandemic.
With COVID-19 positive cases continuing to surge, masks are encouraged by those who attend the event this weekend.
People who turned out on the second day of the festival — Saturday, Sept. 4 — enjoyed everything from crafts to food, carnival rides, concert entertainment and more.

The festival highlights the local apple growers and vendors in the area, dubbed “Apple Country,” as apples are in season right now.
It’s a yearly tradition for many families in Henderson County — and beyond.
“I think it’s a fun, family-oriented festival. It’s just got so many different things. It’s mainly free, you’ve got lots of entertainment, you’ve got the apples,” said Michael Arrowood, visitor services coordinator for Henderson County Tourism Development Authority. “People come back year after year. We’ve had whole generations of people that raise their kids up, and then their kid bring their kids.”
