ISHPEMING — The Ishpeming City Council held a special meeting Tuesday to discuss an offer to bring its former finance director back and to approve funds for repairs of a city dump truck.
The council heard a proposal from an individual who previously held the finance director position. The council discussed the desired salary from the applicant and decided to send a counteroffer back to the individual. A decision on the position will be made during January’s scheduled council meeting.
The council also approved nearly $12,000 worth of funding for repairs of one of the city dump trucks. Department of Public Works truck No. 108 requires repairs and cleaning of its diesel emissions system.
The council meets again in January to further discuss the finance director role and will make a decision on rescinding a city ordinance that has kept the city from allowing recreational marijuana businesses from operating within city limits, as well as approving a partnership between Cognition Brewing Company and Grace Episcopal Church.
