If match play isn’t your thing, you’re in luck because the Corales Puntacana Championship is another PGA Tour event you can enjoy this week aside from the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.
The field for this event is obviously watered down because it’s the secondary event of the week, but I think that means there’s actually MORE value to be had here.
After all, it doesn’t feel so good picking a long shot to win in a field that includes the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm.
Let’s try to target the best plays to win this weakened field, broken down into power rankings based on odds value.

I have eight names circled who each have a shot to win in the Dominican Republic this week and I’ve separated them into power rankings so you can sprinkle your bankroll on them accordingly.
Of course, betting on a favorite who finishes close to the top doesn’t hold the same weight as a long shot who’s in the mix at the end, so consider the odds when you’re placing your wagers.
Best Bets to Win
- Rafael Campos (+14000)
Guys like Campos are why betting on golf is the best. Where else can you find a potential winner at +14000 odds?!
It’s not unheard of for players with longer than 100-to-1 odds to win a golf tournament, and Campos qualifies as one of those players this week. The 34-year-old Puerto Rican has an excellent recent history of performance at Corales, finishing with a T28 -7 last year and a T2 -11 in 2021.
Campos has played primarily on the Korn Ferry Tour this season, with a high finish of T12 at the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic back in January. He posted a T48 -4 in his most recent event, the Puerto Rico Open.
There’s not much to be impressed about when it comes to Campos’s strokes gained or recent performance, BUT that’s why we’re getting such long odds. I’m not saying to unload your bankroll on Campos, but I do think he is the most intriguing long shot in this tournament.

Don’t Count Them Out
5. Kramer Hicock (+3100)
Don’t sleep on this 30-year-old American. Hicock had an ugly stretch this past fall and winter as he missed eight straight cuts, but that seems to be behind him now.
Hicock has finished T45 or better in four straight PGA Tour events, including a T14 at the Honda Classic last month. He had success at Corales last year, too, as he finished with a T13 -11, his third-best performance all last year.
Hicock has gained strokes on the field in every single category at some point this season, including over a stroke gained on the field (in putting and driving) at The Players Championship.
With odds like these, throwing some cash on Hicock is one of the stronger plays on the board.
