The CAA is hosting its men’s basketball tournament in Washington, D.C. from March 3-7, and that means some great gambling opportunities are coming our way. It’s not quite the big dance just yet, but we’ve made it to March, so let the Madness begin.
Charleston has been ranked in the top 25 and even received votes in the final AP poll this week.
It was breezing through the CAA until Hofstra knocked it off and stole the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament from it.
Could Hofstra be a bid stealer? Or maybe Charleston needs to win the automatic bid to end its magical year in the NCAA tournament?

CAA tournament bracket and standings
CAA tournament schedule
The tournament begins Friday March 3 at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. with No. 13 Monmouth and No. 12 Hampton. That is the only game of the first round, the second round starts on Saturday, March 4, with four games beginning at noon with No. 9 Elon vs. No. 8 William & Mary.
The quarterfinals are Sunday, March 5 with the first of four games tipping off at noon. The semifinals and finals will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network, and all prior rounds will be streamed on FloSports.
The semifinals are Monday March 6, at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and the final is Tuesday, March 7 at 7 p.m.
CAA tournament prediction and pick
Charleston was running the conference all year until it ran into Hofstra back on Jan. 28.
Hofstra handed Charleston just its second loss of the year at the time, 85-81. Then the next game, the Cougars turned around and lost to Drexel.
Before that, they were clean and after that two game stretch they’ve been clean, finishing the year, 28-3 (16-2). They are 27th in tempo by KenPom, 67th in KenPom’s rankings and 14th in the nation in offensive efficiency.
In that loss to Hofstra, Charleston shot 5-for-31 from 3 and Hofstra went 11-for-22 and still only won by four.
No disrespect to Hofstra, it finished conference play 16-2 as well, but it isn’t in the same league as Charleston and got lucky one time.
