‘CoComelon’ to Move From Netflix to Disney+

The animated series CoComelon will be moving to a new streamer.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Disney+ has picked up the popular preschool show, starting in 2027, after Netflix declined to renew its CoComelon license.

Sources told THR that Netflix chose not to renew its CoComelon license due to a decline in viewership. The show has been with the streamer since 2020. Despite airing four new seasons in 2024, the preschool series’ viewership declined by nearly 60 percent from 2023 H1 to 2024 H2, according to the streamer’s semi-annual reports.

Netflix will continue to exclusively stream its spinoff Cocomelon Lane, as well as Blippi.

Kids and family programming, like CoComelon, has continued to fuel Netflix’s growth over the years, with viewership representing 15 percent of the streamer’s total viewing. Other children’s shows still on the platform include Sesame Street, Ms. Rachel, Gabby’s Dollhouse, Peppa Pig, Peppa Pig, Care Bears and Hot Wheels Let’s Race.

CoComelon, from Candle Media-owned Moonbug Entertainment, is set in the fictional town of Cocomelon, and follows baby JJ and his siblings as they go on fun everyday adventures with nursery, play, exploration and learning. The show originated on YouTube.

Bloomberg was first to report the news of the show’s move.
