Citrus Harvest Festival on Saturday, March 26 | Entertainment

The city of Highland will host the 24th annual Citrus Harvest Festival 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, in the Highland Historic District. Center of the festival will be at Palm Avenue and Main Street with most of the festivities taking place on Main.

The festival highlights the city’s citrus industry heritage by inviting residents and guests to enjoy historic demonstrations, live musical entertainment, the Kiwanis Club Car Show and more in neighborhoods populated with historic homes, churches and commercial buildings.

The city will also be honoring San Manuel Band of Mission Indians as this year’s festival honoree. The tribe was selected for the honor based on its dedicated and continued support of the Highland-San Bernardino community through community partnerships, participation in local events and causes and financial support of many local nonprofits.

A guided walking tour of the Historic District will provide participants historical backgrounds on many of the district’s structures and historical figures. Those interested in the free tour should arrive to the festival early, as the tour will begin at 10 a.m. at Bauer Pottery, which is in the steel packinghouse near the northwest corner of Main and Church Avenue. The tour will conclude with a tour of the packinghouse’s interior.

A full day of live musical entertainment is scheduled featuring local talents Highland Music Co., Andrew Sandoval and Mark Barnett, a Roy Orbison tribute artist.

For more information on the festival, read the official festival program inserted in this issue of Highland Community News.
