CHS’s own Fashion Club has been putting together a lot of ideas during the winter season.

“The current trends for this winter that we are seeing are a revival of 2010-2012 fashion pieces,” CHS Fashion Club President Emma Slaughter said. “We’ve seen many students wearing low-rise jeans, ugg boots, sequins, feathers, scarfs, Dickies, Carhartt jackets, pants, puffer jackets, and puffer vests [that] are now back in style,” she said, adding that arm warmers and leg warmers have also been in for over a year now.

Slaughter became interested in creating the Fashion Club because she wanted to create an outlet for students to feel comfortable wearing what they want, and to appreciate other students’ outfits. Her favorite part of the fashion industry is the runway shows, specifically 2009 and 2012 fall ready-to-wear shows by Isabel Marant. Their outfits are very close to her personal style. According to Slaughter, the school is so unique and diverse in clothing styles, so she created the Fashion Club for people who love predicting trends and talking about celebrities’ outfits.

Club Cabinet member Jared Frances is a big fan of the new balance shoes trend going around. They are definitely a more interesting style and he loves a good chunky shoe. A fashion trend on campus that the club disliked was the plaid PJ pants and tank top combo that went around campus because “it was so repetitive.” Frances said, “people should join the Fashion Club because it’s such a fun time every meeting. It’s definitely about being confident in what you’re wearing.”

According to the Fashion Club cabinet members, Mrs. Bernardy has the best style out of all the administration employees on campus.

The Fashion Club believes this winter’s shoe is the cowboy boot, and will transition into spring very nicely. This upcoming spring, the club predicts CHS students will see platform flip flops, a revival of mesh tops, and polka dots coming back into fashion. They think CHS will be seeing lots of unique and fun colors, along with bigger bags and purses coming back into style.

The Fashion Club is looking foward to the upcoming fashion trends to come this following 2023 school year.
