From the island of Mypos to the heart of Chicago, cousin Larry and Balki are back together again.
Perfect Strangers stars Bronson Pinchot and Mark Linn-Baker reunited at the Fanboy Convention in Knoxville, Tenn. over the weekend. Pinchot delighted fans of the sitcom, which aired its final episode over 30 years ago, by sharing four videos with Linn-Baker in which they bantered and caught up, in and out of character.
“We’re at the convention, I’m fading,” Pinchot, a prolific Instagram vlogger, began in one. Linn-Baker joked back, “Yes you are, you have been done for about an hour. However, I’m still charming,”
Pinchot insisted that they “go into character,” counting Linn-Baker down and urging him to take off his glasses so they also resembled their Perfect Strangers characters – cousins Larry Appleton (Linn-Baker) and Balki Bartokomous (Pinchot). Summoning up Balki’s rustic Mediterranean lilt, Pinchot said, “Somebody say in the comments, that we should say, ‘Oh my Lord,'” to which Linn-Baker, who made the phrase famous, fretfully conceded a pitch-perfect, “Oh my Lord.”
In the first of Pinchot’s four videos, he leads an archly stunned-looking Linn-Baker through the Knoxville Convention Center, telling his 87,000 followers, “He’s actually alive. I thought for a second, as you no doubt did, that he was a wax model of himself.” Linn-Baker innocently asks, “Is this Instagram?” Pinchot announces, “Yes, I’ll actually be showing him how to post,” to which Linn-Baker excitedly adds, “I’ll be posting!”
In the other videos, Pinchot and Linn-Baker “haul off and get in character” at a coffee shop and, once in character, perform the widely-demanded “Bibi-Babka Song” that cousin Balki would often launch into on the series.
For eight seasons, from 1986-1993, Perfect Strangers chronicled the odd couple of Larry and Balki, distant cousins who end up rooming together in Chicago when Larry, a simple Wisconsin boy with humble big city dreams, reluctantly takes his relative in when he arrives with nowhere else to go from his fictional Mediterranean island of Mypos. The series co-starred future George Lopez star Belita Moreno, Ernie Sabella, the voice of Pumbaa in The Lion King, and Jo Marie Payton-France, whose character Hariette Winslow received her own spinoff, Family Matters, in 1989.

Last year, Pinchot opened up about his enduring relationship with his old costar.
“We text and call each other all the time. Mark, I mean, he’s so embedded in my heart,” he told PEOPLE. “You talk about no time passing. When I get together with Mark, we’re already laughing. Because we can read each other’s minds. And I can’t express to you how not an exaggeration that is.”
Addressing rumors of a Perfect Strangers reunion or reboot, Pinchot cautioned for fans not to get their hopes up, joking, “Every time someone talks about, ‘Let’s redo it with two Chia Pets,’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, you can say the lines. I mean, you can say one’s from a different country. That’s not what the show was about. It was about something that you can’t put your finger on, so good luck.”
