‘Billy on the Street’ returns for pre-election special with Will Ferrell

Billy Eichner is back on the street with a very important agenda: to rally support for Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 election.

And who better to help out than comedy movie icon Will Ferrell?

For its first episode in two years, the hit web series sees the duo running around the streets of New York City with t-shirts that read, “Loud White Men for Kamala.” The veteran comedians proceed to accost strangers, asking about their plans to vote and which of Ferrell’s iconic films is their favorite. At one point, Eichner warns an unsuspecting stranger, “Will Ferrell will kick your ass if you don’t vote.”

The Difficult People comedian also takes time to ask such hard-hitting questions as, “Would you have sex with a Trump voter?”

One participant replied “Absolutely not,” while another mimed throwing up.

Another interaction sees Eichner pose the question, “For a dollar, which would you rather see a sequel to, Elf or Trump?”

“Elf,” one man replied, earning applause from Ferrell. The duo were even more ecstatic to learn that the man was not only voting for Harris, but had just registered to do so.

“Perfect,” Ferrell yelled, while Eichner cheered, “Thank you!” Taking things to the next level, they hugged him while jumping up and down, to which the stranger eventually said, “That’s too much.”

“No it’s not, it’s exactly right,” replied Eichner.

“Sir, we’re loud white men for Kamala. Join the call!” Eichner later shouted at an enthusiastic young man.

“Hell yeah, I’m in,” he replied, revealing that he had already voted by mail.

“Mail-in ballot, bitch!,” yelled Eichner.

Eichner also shared the video on Instagram, writing, “WE MUST DEFEAT TRUMP!!! VOTE HARRIS/WALZ ALL THE WAY!!! LET’S GO!!!!!!!!!!”

It’s been over two years since Eichner last resurrected his man-on-the-street series. Last time around, he was promoting his romantic-comedy Bros. Popularized by its viral clips, the series began as a 2011 comedy game show that ran for five seasons across various networks, calling upon such celebrities as Chris Evans, Nicole Kidman, Keegan-Michael Key, John Oliver, Paul Rudd, and Lupita Nyong’o. Ferrell has made two prior appearances on the show.

Ahead of the 2022 Bros episode, Eichner stated that he has no plans to reboot Billy on the Street in any regular capacity.

“I might revive it for a special occasion, but the TV series is done,” Eichner told Variety. “I will never do it again in any regular fashion. I have no desire to be a 44-year-old man running around the streets all year long screaming at people.”
