Just moments ago, Billy Joel shared some sad news regarding his health and upcoming concert series in New York City.
In a statement shared on Facebook by the 73-year-old singer on Sunday, Dec. 18, Joel revealed that the live performance he had scheduled for tomorrow at Madison Square Garden had been postponed until June of next year due to a viral infection he’s battling.
“I’m disappointed to share that I’m under doctor’s orders for vocal rest due to a viral infection so unfortunately, I must postpone my Monday, December 19th concert at Madison Square Garden to June,” he wrote.
Joel’s statement continued: “I’m so sorry to let you know so close to show day, but I was hoping to be closer to a full recovery by now. Sadly, that hasn’t happened.” The Long Island native later added, “I look forward to seeing you in the New Year.”
And while fans are certainly bummed they won’t be able to see the artist in concert for another six months, they seem to respect the doctor’s orders, writing well wishes in the comments of his latest post.
“Feel better, Billy. Many of us are in the same boat–there are so many germs around. May you & your family have a beautiful Christmas & happy, healthy 2023!” one fan wrote back.
