STEUBENVILLE — The Steubenville golf team bested Buckeye Local, 178-183, Friday at the Steubenville Country Club.
Big Red’s Bubby Reese was the medalist with a 37. Nick Nurcyk shot a 45, Frank Vostatek 46 and Sonny Scaffidi 50.
For the Panthers, Josh Kerkuta led with a 42, followed by Jacob Berry with a 45, Jimmy Hornyak 47 and Aiden Polanski 49.
Big Red improves to 2-1 on the young season.
John Marshall wins twice
WHEELING — The John Marshall boys and girls golf squads each were victorious on Friday at Wheeling Park Golf Course.
The John Marshall boys carded a 148, compared to Linsly’s 160 and Brooke’s 187.
The Monarchs’ Ethan Cook led with a 35. Travis Degarmo finished with a 36, Ty Cox 37 and Colton Sprowls and Mason Orndroff each shooting a 40.
Linsly’s Adam Gill was the medalist with a 33. Conner Roberts was behind him wiht a 40, Nick Hellman 42 and Eli Dean 45.
For the Bruins, Nick Ciponetti led with a 45, Alex Jezierski 46, Owen Petrella 47 and Justin Duke 49.
In girls action, John Marshall shot a team score of 193. Fort Frye was second with a 202, and Linsly did not score.
The Monarchs’ Payten Clark led with a 44, followed by Lauren Tekely’s 47, Bethany Schaber’s 48 and Megan Huff’s and Amelia Kaste’s 54.
Fort Frye’s Ella Keffer was the medalist with a 38. Maggie White shot a 51, Megan Bohl 56 and Denay Layton 57.
As for Linsly, Alyssa Tomlinson carded a 60, Peloton Florence 63 and Gianna Ferrelli 71.
