‘Big Brother’ host Julie Chen Moonves reacts to another Cam competition fail

Each week, Big Brother host Julie Chen Moonves will weigh in exclusively on the latest events inside the house. This week, she reacts to Kimo’s eviction, Cam coming up short in another competition, Makensy’s reign as HOH, and inspiring people through the TV screen.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Okay, Julie. We need to start with Cam and his absolutely dismal performance in yet another competition. How can this former competitive athlete be so bad, so often?

JULIE CHEN MOONVES: Perhaps he doesn’t get the same adrenaline rush athletes get when it’s “game time!” You know, the pep talk from the coach, teammates getting you pumped up, and cheers from the crowd can help someone lock in. He’s coasting along and doing just fine… taking naps, breaks during the BB Comics comp, and look where he is… sitting in the Final Four.

Did Makensy make a fatal error as HOH by not taking out her biggest competition to win in Chelsie?

No. It was too early to target Chelsie. Plus, Makensy might not see Chelsie as her biggest competition. We see her that way because we see everything, hear everything, and know everything Chelsie says in the Diary Room. Makensy sees Chelsie as her partner to get to the end.

How would you sum up Kimo’s game and his eviction this week?

His game was interesting. A little this, a little that, and a whole lot of love from his housemates. He’s a good listener and extremely likable. That counts for a lot. Plus, he won two do or die comps when his life in the game depended on it: week one in the BBAI arena, and then last week in the live Power of Veto on double eviction night. He survived the block seven times, but tonight his BB lives ran out.

It was huge. A huge compliment and a huge statement. It brought me back to my childhood growing up in the 70s and 80s. Connie Chung was the person I related to, and she helped inspire me to get in to broadcast journalism — my first job and first love before BB existed. I’m touched and honored, and I hope I represent Asians in a positive light.
