Head of Compliance Guidance and Information Services at the office, M Rizki Baidillah, explained that the arrest was made by a Customs and Excise patrol boat that was undergoing a Pandawa Sea Patrol Operation on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.

The ship was found to be carrying various types of illegal goods that were not completed by customs documents. The goods include 87 cellphones, 2 laptops, 15 boxes of used clothes and bags, and 11 used bicycles.

Departing from the Tanjung Riau Port, the ship was traveling to Sekupang Domestic Port when the team intercepted it and conducted an inspection, Rizki informed.

“From the inspection, 87 cellphones were found hidden in the luggage of the crew and the ship’s air conditioner (AC) compartment,” Rizki detailed as quoted from Antara, Friday, December 16, 2022.
