Charles Barkley and JoAnn Fitzsimmons will chair the 50th Arizona Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony Nov. 1.
Barkley and Cotton Fitzsimmons, JoAnn’s late husband, were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015 for their accomplishments with the Phoenix Suns.
“Charles and JoAnn are the perfect chairs to welcome in the new class,” said Nikki Balich-Cammarata, Arizona Sports and Entertainment Commission executive director. “Pedro (Gomez) was an important part of this event and helped us to shape it to what it is today. They will help us pay tribute to him.”
Gomez of ESPN and before that a sports columnist with the Arizona Republic first served as the Hall of Fame master of ceremonies in 2015. He died in February.
The new Hall of Fame inductees are John Bridger, Joe Caldwell, Ann Meyers Drysdale, Andre Ethier, Roland Hemond and Paul Westphal.Â
Phil Mickelson was to have been part of the 2021 induction class but will instead be inducted in 2022 because of schedule conflicts.
The Hall of Fame ceremony is at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Phoenician.Â
