During an installment of Vanity Fair‘s Lie Detector Test series released on Monday, Sept. 30, the 31-year-old singer and actress shut down speculation that she’s had various cosmetic procedures.
At one point during the interview, Grande’s Wicked costar Cynthia Erivo asked her if she’s had a BBL (or Brazilian butt lift). “Get the f— out of here,” Grande replied before jokingly adding, “Yes.”
When Erivo, 37, asked if she would ever have the procedure, the Nickelodeon alum said, “No. That wouldn’t work for me. I don’t think that’s my thing. And I’m OK with that, you know?”
Earlier in the interview, Erivo walked her costar through a list of procedures including a nose job, breast augmentation and face lift, all of which Grande denied. “Not yet,” she added of getting a face lift. “I’m open.”
“This is the best day of my life,” the “Dangerous Woman” singer said after the person analyzing the lie detector confirmed she was being truthful. “Take that you YouTube people.”
Erivo also asked about a procedure that Grande is frequently speculated to have gotten: a fox eye lift. “No, but I discovered it through people who thought I did and I said, ‘Thank you.'”
Grande then denied having a chin implant before saying that the only cosmetic procedures she’s ever had are “fillers in various places and Botox, but I stopped like four years ago.”
“But also like, in full support of all people who do these things,” she added.
In a Sept. 2023 episode of Vogue Beauty Secrets, Grande shared that had stopped getting cosmetic injectables.
“Full transparency as a beauty person, as I do my lips,” the 30-year-old R.E.M. Beauty founder said before applying color to her lips. “[I’ve] had a ton of lip filler over the years and Botox. I stopped in 2018 because I just felt so — too much. I just felt like [I was] hiding, you know?”
The singer began tearing up before explaining that for a long time, beauty was “about hiding for me.
“I, over the years, used makeup as a disguise or as something to hide behind,” she admitted. “More hair, more and more, [the] thicker the eyeliner… and that can be so beautiful at times and I still do have love for it.”
She went on to say that she supports those who want to get plastic surgery, “but I know for me I was just like, oh, I want to see my well-earned cry lines and smile lines.”
Grande continued, “I hope my smile lines get deeper and deeper. And I laugh more and more and I just think aging can be such a beautiful thing.”
