What is The Holiday?
The Holiday is a 2006 romantic comedy written, produced, and directed by Nancy Meyers. It starts Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz as women living in the United Kingdom and United States, respectively, who elect to swap homes for a change of scenery during the holiday season. Their journeys across the pond has them falling in love with Jude Law (who plays Winslet’s brother) and Jack Black (who plays a film composer associate of Diaz).
The Holiday had a November 29 premiere in New York City before opening in both the U.S. and U.K. on December 8. It made $63 million at the North American domestic box office and $142 million at the international box office, and became the twelfth highest-grossing film in the 2000s to be directed by a woman.

Is The Holiday 2 happening?
Rumors were first reported of a sequel to The Holiday in early December. The Sun alleged that production would begin in 2023, filming would once again take place in the U.S. and U.K., and that the main quartet of stars had all signed back onboard. This started churning the rumor mills, beginning speculation about a sequel film happening.
Unfortunately, the rumors were soon debunked by several notables of the original film. Nancy Meyers, who wrote, produced, and directed The Holiday, screenshotted one of the many tweeted articles about the sequel potential. “So many DM’s about this,” she wrote, “sorry but it’s not true.”
Additionally, Kate Winslet responded to the rumors during an interview with People while promoting Avatar: The Way of Water. “I read something about that,” the Oscar winner said, “but it’s the first I’ve heard of it. I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that. Hand on heart, that’s never come up.”
While Hollywood seems to be full of reboots and sequels these days, unfortunately it looks like The Holiday isn’t getting one anytime soon.
