Netflix has dropped a first-look trailer for Leave the World Behind, the apocalyptic thriller starring Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke.
“There’s no going back to normal,” Ali’s character G.H. Scott warns Amanda and Clay Sandford (Roberts,Hawke) as a massive cyberattack begins taking a horrifying toll on the world.
The film, making its world premiere October 25 with a red carpet gala at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, will reach select theaters Nov. 22 and begin streaming on Netflix on Dec. 8.
Written and directed by Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot and Metropolis), based on the novel by Rumaan Alam, the chiller begins when Scott and his daughter Ruth (Myha’la) arrive at the luxurious home rented for the weekend by the Sandfords and their kids Archie (Charlie Evans) and Rose (Farrah Mackenzie). What starts with a black-out in New York City soon spreads to a collapsing world in unexpected ways.
The film is produced by Esmail Corp, Red Om Films, and executive produced by Higher Ground Productions.
